This Week in the Garden: Wild Wet Winter

Brrr...The weather in our part of the work is rather miserable this week, with wild winds, freezing rain, and even snow (but not in our garden...yet!).  After a brief and welcome break in the weather, the temperatures plunged, and wild winds and winter rain have mean that very little productive work has happened in the garden this week. In fact, it's added to my chore list as some of our plants have been damaged in the storms so I will have some unexpected pruning, composting, digging, and replacing to do to tidy up this week's mess. :(  There's always hope and the promise of something good to come in the garden though, and this time of year it is seeing the winter planted peas and beans poke their first leaves up from the garden beds. The first of the spring bulbs are shooting as well.

What's happening in and around your garden this week? Whatever your garden/green news, we would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment or post us a message on the GiRL Facebook page. I look forward to sharing our garden with you as it grows.

Green in Real Life is now on Instagram! Join us there for my photos from our garden and beyond. We'll be taking an August blogging break and then changing our content starting in September, and Instagram will be the best place to see all of our latest garden photos in the future. We'd love for you to join us there!  ❀
