This Week in the Garden: Fresh Green Spring Growth

It has been yet more soggy spring weather, but just a (far too brief) day or two of sunshine midweek was enough to jump start the buds into popping forth their fresh spring growth.  The garden is slowly coming back into form after our winter. Things are greening up nicely and colour is starting to return throughout the gardens. The usually early spring bulbs are blooming late but great this year, although the flowers are a little less pretty than most years with their hard battle against almost daily wind and rain. Keep an eye out for a special post next week on planting and caring for bulbs, as the first of our spring/fall mini-series on propagation. On the subject of which, happy first day of fall to all of our northern friends and readers!

What's happening in and around your garden this week? Whatever your garden/green news, we would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment or post us a message on the GiRL Facebook page. I look forward to sharing our garden with you as it grows.
